Masking panels are an elegant and practical addition to any kitchen. Not only do they hide cabinet joints or lighting, but they also provide a seamless and finished look to the kitchen space. In this guide, we'll take you step-by-step through the process of installing an under-cabinet panel.
Step 1: Collect the materials
To install the panel, you'll need a screwdriver, a drill, a pencil, and screws with a maximum length of 25mm.
Step 2: Measurement and preparation
There are usually two types of under-cabinet panel:
In the case of the panel for the full depth of wall cabinets, it is possible to mill a space in the panel for the LED strip.
In addition, under-cabinet panels can be in one piece for the length of the wall cabinets, if there is no hood (up to a length of 2800 mm, depending on the material selected). If a hood is installed in the wall cabinets, then for the hood cabinet, the panel is a separate piece with a hole cut for the hood (the hole must be made by yourself depending on the type of hood).
Step 3: Measure the cabinets and the panel
First, make sure the length under the cabinets is the same as the panel you ordered. If necessary, cut the panel to the needed length.
Step 4: Drill the holes and attach the panel
For this step you will need the help of two people - if the panel is long. Two people should put the masking panel to the bottom of the cabinets (you can use carpenter's clamps, in which case you don't need to involve additional people), and the third person can screw the pieces together using screws. Use screws in each corner of the wall cabinet. In the case of an eave cabinet, also install the panel through screws in each corner. Maintain the correct order of panel installation:
If you are installing panels that are divided by the depth of wall cabinets, first install the narrow panel in front, aligning it with the front edge of the cabinet. Then the lighting according to the instructions. After connecting the lighting, install the back strip, which can be cut to depth if necessary.
