Choosing furniture for our interior is often a big challenge. We need to take into account many factors, such as our preferences, budget and, most importantly, expectations regarding functionality and aesthetics. If you are wondering whether it is better to opt for custom or modular furniture, we invite you to read on. We will present both the advantages and disadvantages of both options, as well as show how modular furniture, enhanced with our solutions, can give the effect of custom furniture.
Customized furniture
Customized furniture offers flexibility and customization, allowing you to create the perfect interior according to the dimensions and shape of the room. They are the perfect solution for unusual square meters and hard-to-reach areas, allowing you to maximize the use of space. We can also choose materials, colors and design, creating unique furniture.
However, keep in mind that custom furniture is usually more expensive and has a longer lead time. It is also more difficult to make changes later. Therefore, it is important to think about your needs and expectations before making a decision.
Modular furniture
An alternative is modular furniture, such as those offered by IKEA. They are more affordable and easy to assemble. They consist of separate modules that can be combined and separated as needed, providing greater flexibility to adapt the furniture to changing needs and interior design. Lead times are usually shorter, and they are often available "off-the-shelf."
Modular furniture may have some limitations for non-standard rooms with non-standard dimensions or shape, which affects functionality and use of space. In addition, due to mass production, it is more difficult to achieve a unique design that will set an interior apart from others.
However, with the help of our solutions, we can achieve the effect of customized furniture using modular components.
Customized kitchen with QOOD and IKEA base
Using the ready-made modules that IKEA offers for Method kitchens, it is not always possible to adjust their dimensions to the space you want to build. In such situations, we suggest using our modified IKEA cabinets, which will make perfect use of every inch of space.
But how to give a unique look to a modular kitchen? By betting on our fronts! Whether you opt for lacquered or veneered fronts, or laminate or acrylic, each has pre-drilled holes for hinges, making installation quick and easy.
By using masking elements, such as panels, tops or plinths, you can fill the space unused by the cabinets and create a floor-to-ceiling development. With side panels you can hide the sides of the cabinets.
In addition, you can use under-cabinet panels to cover the lower part of the body of the wall cabinet, and choose our extended fronts, which will allow you to open without using an additional handle.
All of these built-in elements will make the cabinets covered, and the whole kitchen will gain consistency and aesthetic appeal.
QOOD INFO: If you have an IKEA kitchen, but from the now unavailable FAKTUM series, and it needs renovation, you will find all the necessary and matching elements - fronts, panels and plinths.
Custom-made wardrobe with QOOD and IKEA base
Ready PAX wardrobe bodies from IKEA are available in two heights - 201 and 236 cm. You'll probably ask, how then to create a built-in cabinet to the ceiling, since in most cases neither of these two options will fill all the available space? Well, our solution is extension, which will fill the gap between the PAX cabinet and the ceiling.
Now that we have a built-in created from the module and the QOOD extension, the question remains of finishing and giving the wardrobe a unique look. Let's start with our fronts - you can choose their heights so that the PAX body and extensions have separate doors, or use one front for the entire height of the development (which we recommend).
In addition, we advocate slightly elongated fronts that will cover the base of the PAX body.
If the sides of the cabinet are visible, you can use side panels, made in the same material and color/decor as the selected fronts. This will give you a unified and cohesive cabinet.
QOOD TIP: If you don't have space for an extension or there is not enough space, you can use our fronts in standard IKEA dimensions or fronts extended upwards by up to 20cm.
If you dream of a cashmere-colored kitchen with modern cutters combined with natural veneer, this is possible with ready-made modules and QOOD fronts. Also personalize with us your wardrobe, which will fit perfectly into the space, and on top of that it will be functional and unique in design.
